The manhunt in Boston has had a ripple effect in our region.
There is heightened security near the border crossings into Canada. Just short of the crossing in Highgate, there was a large presence of federal agents. Traffic was funneled into a single lane to give officers a view of passing cars. All of this an effort to detect the Boston bombing suspect, if he has managed to slip out of Boston and is trying to escape into Canada.
There was also evidence of enhanced security at the Burlington International Airport Friday. Security personnel and bomb dogs could be seen sweeping the terminal and the parking areas.
