Amtrak service in Vermont was interrupted Friday afternoon, but it was not related to the Boston crisis.
Instead, it was an accident involving a pedestrian. Amtrak officials say the southbound Vermonter train struck a woman while crossing a bridge over the West River in Brattleboro at about 12:30 p.m. The 47-year-old Brattleboro woman fell from the tracks about 25 feet onto rocks below. Police say she appeared to have suffered significant injuries, but she was conscious and talking. She was rushed to the hospital in Brattleboro. Police have not yet released her name.
The bridge is off limits to pedestrians.
The train resumed its journey, bound for Washington, D.C., after about a 50-minute delay.
