Eleven fire departments from Vermont, New York and Canada battled a big fire in Rouse's Point Monday morning.
It started in an elevator shaft at the old Saxony building, which locals say used to be a lounge and hotel, but now contains apartments and a recording studio.
The four-story sits at the intersection of Route 11 and Lake Street in the village. Both those roads were closed through the morning as firefighters worked to put out the flames.
"To the best of our knowledge we haven't gotten any fire damage below the fourth floor. We haven't seen any fire below the fourth. We've got significant water load in there and I've seen buildings collapse just because of the water load," said Walter Laramie with the Rouses Point Fire Department.
All the people who live there are out of the building. No injuries have been reported. They don't know what caused the fire.
