A Winooski man prompted the evacuation of a classroom at Champlain College in Burlington Wednesday.
Police say Stuart Collinson, 40, wandered into a room full of students taking a final exam. He did not make any threats, but refused to leave or communicate with anyone. Campus security cleared the room until he left.
Burlington police found Collinson a short time later and say he tried to assault an officer. Collinson was tackled outside Courthouse Plaza and was arrested for disorderly conduct.
"There's no indication that there was drugs or alcohol involved. He had none in his possession. He did engage us verbally, a little bit briefly. We are assessing his mental health state," Burlington Police Sgt. Paul Glynn said.
Winooski authorities had been trying to locate Collinson for a welfare check.
