Body building competition comes to South Burlington

Posted: Updated:

In South Burlington Saturday -- muscles are the name of the game.

The NPC Vermont Championship took place at South Burlington High School. Competitors were judged in different divisions of 8 separate categories -- including body building, bikini, and women's physique. Divisions are determined by height and weight classes. Judges say the competitors train year round, but start an intensive diet for 12 to 16 weeks prior to competing. Promoters of the event say you don't have to be a competitor to understand the importance of staying healthy and taking steps to keep your body in shape.

"It's good to set goals. If you're working out at the gym or you're losing weight or you want to get in shape, this is a good goal to shoot for. Something to get on stage and compete," said Mike Feulner, a NPC Promoter.

The competition continues Saturday night with performances. Tickets are available at the door for 45 dollars.
