This week marks the ten years since the natural rock formation known as the Old Man of the Mountain crumbled.
Before it crashed in May 2003, the 40-foot granite profile drew generations of tourists to Franconia Notch, New Hampshire, and become a symbol of the state's independence and stubbornness.
The Legislature adopted it as the state emblem, and it still appears on the state quarter, highway signs and license plates.
