A huge new contract for the Nova Bus company in Plattsburgh. The company announced Tuesday it has signed a $148 million deal to build 300 buses for the Chicago Transit Authority. The contract could be extended for another 150 vehicles on top of that.
The new buses will replace a fleet of buses that Chicago purchased from Nova 14 years ago.
Nova currently employs about 200 workers at its Plattsburgh factory. The company won't comment on whether this contract will lead to any new jobs.
Chamber of Commerce president Garry Douglas says the contract is not only good for Nova, but for several other area companies that supply parts to Nova.
