Drivers on Interstate 89 in Bolton face delays, thanks to a sinkhole.
The hole opened up in the northbound side Tuesday afternoon and transportation officials closed the passing lane to repair it. They say the hole is 4-feet wide and wider below-- as much as 6 feet. That has crews concerned about structural stability below the road surface.
"With winter getting over frost settled underground, made it possible for blacktop to fail," said Art Danyow of VTrans.
Crews are making temporary repairs. They'll spend Wednesday inspecting the road.
That stretch of highway is scheduled for new pavement and they want to make sure they correct any problems before that.
