A family-favorite in Burlington will close its doors Tuesday night. After more than 16 years in business, Waterfront Video is going out of business.
The Shelburne Road store was home to about 25,000 titles and often included those you might not find at larger chains. Management says a number of factors led to the move, including the death of the store's owner back in the fall.
"Netflix streaming and Amazon and Hulu all had their impact on us, but probably not as much as other video stores. We have a really tight community that wanted us here, so they supported us as a local business," said Chris Lapointe of Waterfront Video.
The team at Waterfront Video says it has sold its entire inventory to a single buyer, but did not have details on whether a new store may be in the works.
Before moving to Shelburne Road, Waterfront Video was on Battery Street by the waterfront.
