DANVILLE, Vt. (AP) - The third and final year of a major road improvement project through the Vermont town of Danville is underway and so far this year, there haven't been any complaints.

The $6.6 million U.S. Route 2 improvement project initially drew many complaints from people who were unhappy with the traffic delays and other inconveniences caused by the construction.

Town Administrator Mert Leonard tells the Caledonian Record two lanes of traffic will be maintained through the construction zone, there appears to be less heavy equipment and there is no night work.

The project includes replacing municipal infrastructure, rebuilding the roadway, new sidewalks and landscaping.

Leonard says heavy construction is scheduled to conclude this year, but some landscaping and finish work could last into next year.
