Suspicious incident prompts warning from Shelburne Police

Posted: Updated:

A suspicious incident has prompted Shelburne Police to warn kids about accepting rides from strangers.

Police say around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, three baseball players aged 11-13 were walking to a nearby gas station to get creemees after a game. Police say a woman pulled over and yelled at them to get in her car. The kids declined the ride and took off running.

Police are treating it as a suspicious incident until they can find out more about the woman's intentions.

"So we're just asking parents to take a five minute talk with your children. Make sure they know not to get in the car with any strangers," Shelburne Police Sgt. Allen Fortin said.

Police interviewed the three kids Thursday morning. They're not releasing descriptions of the woman or her car at this point in the investigation.
