The Vermont Legislature is trying to wrap things up to be able to adjourn by the end of the week.
To tie up loose ends, lawmakers are meeting in committee to bridge the gap between the Senate and House tax package
Senate Finance Committee Chair Tim Ashe said he expects the House and Senate to work out differences on that funding bill, end of life legislation and an effort to deal with opiate addiction. Senator Ashe said the mood is much less contentious this session.
"I think people have worked very well together this year, even though there's differences of opinion -- unlike perhaps last year -- it has been a collegial environment, and stepped up and behaved in a way that I think Vermonters would be proud," Ashe said.
And to get everything done, lawmakers started their week early, meeting for a rare Monday session.
