As they enter Wednesday's first round NCAA match-up with Middlebury, the Castleton women are confident but they know what lies ahead.
"We just have to play our game," Castleton Attacker Brandi Whittemore said. "If we hold the ball, then they won't have it. We just hope for the best and play our game."
"I really think that this team has a lot of heart," Castleton Goalie Lilly Derbyshire said. "We're really close this year and I think we can work as hard as we possibly can to give Middlebury a run for its money."
Castleton did something Middlebury couldn't do this season by winning a conference championship. But when you're a five time National Champ like the Panthers, one loss in a conference tournament won't have much of an impact.
"It's really great to get a chance to get back out there on Wednesday," Middlebury Attacker Ellen Hale said. "It's nice to not have a lot of time to dwell on what happened this weekend. We played the best we could and we obviously have a lot to improve upon."
"I think we have to take everything one game at a time," Middlebury Midfield Margaret Souther said. "Definitely focus on our first opponents, then hopefully pull out the win and come out strong this weekend."
