Vt. revenues up in April in all 3 funds

Posted: Updated:

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont Administration Secretary Jeb Spaulding says revenues were up in all three of the state's main sources of income last month, including the highest general fund revenues ever for April.

Spaulding says it's "not a time for irrational exuberance" because a good deal of the increase in general fund revenue seems to be due to one-time decisions made by taxpayers in December.

Still, general fund revenues were 14.2 percent above projections. The year-to-date projection is almost 2.5 percent ahead of forecasts.

The transportation fund in April exceeded expectations by 3.85 percent. For the year the transportation fund is 1 percent below target.

The "non-property tax" education fund revenues were almost three-tenths of 1 percent above forecasts. The education fund is also about 1 percent below expectations for the year.
