Celebrating kids in the Queen City

Posted: Updated:

The city of Burlington is getting ready to celebrate young people.

Saturday is Kids Day in the Queen City. Burlington's Department of Parks and Recreation is sponsoring the day packed with fun at Battery Park. Music by Young Tradition, dancing, food and physical activity is all part of the mix. The event will also launch Burlington's School Food Project that provides free summer meals for kids 18 and under.

Volunteers with the United States Tennis Association's Vermont Chapter are already eager to welcome kids.

"Oh, they are so cute and fun, especially the ten and under, they pick it up and have a ball," said Diane Meyer, a Kids Day volunteer.

"We want them to see that the parks are a great place for families to hang out and play with their children, they're a wonderful resource for the city of Burlington," said Nancy Bove, a Kids Day organizer.

Kids Day events are free and open to the public. Activities will take place rain or shine from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
