Vt. man honored for avalanche safety expertise

ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. -

A Vermont man has been recognized by the National Ski Patrol as an expert on avalanche safety.

In fact, they created an award named for 84-year-old Roger Damon of St. Johnsbury. He's now the first recipient of that award.

Damon has been an active member of the Mount Washington Volunteer Ski Patrol in New Hampshire since 1972.
