Bennington is the starting point of Sunday's Shires of Vermont Marathon -- and some runners who couldn't finish the Boston Marathon will be there.
Organizers reached out to the running community to offer free admission to Boston marathoners unable to finish their race. The scenic course winds through the Manchester. So far over 40 racers from the Boston Marathon have registered.
"So many different marathons have been inviting the Boston runners and the organizers thought it was a terrific idea and a way to help them complete their mission, so many of them are running for special causes and people they remember and so forth, that this would be a nice remembrance and a tribute to Boston and to the runners," said Joann Erenhouse with the Bennington Chamber of Commerce
More than 400 runners have registered for the fourth annual race.
