AG's office warns of new scams

Posted: Updated:
MONTPELIER, Vt. -

The Vermont attorney general's office is warning about a couple of scams in our region.

First, in the Morrisville, Middlebury and Montpelier area, salespeople are selling ads claiming to help support the local school's drug prevention program.

The AG's office says this has not been authorized by the school, and appears the companies are being run out of Florida and keeping those advertising dollars for themselves.

And Verizon and Tracfone users beware-- the attorney general says a scammer is texting users claiming there is a problem with their credit or debit card.

Sorrell says you should be wary of texts or calls you did not initiate, and to never give out personal information to a questionable source.
