There are some new laws on the way regulating hunting and fishing in Vermont.
The Vermont Sportsmen's Act includes several new provisions about bears, including a ban on feeding them. People dealing with nuisance bears also must take non-lethal steps to keep the bears away from their property before resorting to shooting the animals.
The new law also prohibits the importing and possession of wild hogs. Many states, including New York, are trying to control populations of hogs, which can carry disease and destroy both wildlife habitat and farmers' crops.
