The U.S. Supreme Court will not hear a Vermont case about limiting search warrants in an attempt to protect privacy.
The Chittenden County prosecutor's office and the Vermont attorney general appealed a ruling last year by the Vermont Supreme Court. The state's high court found a judge can limit the scope of a search warrant. The ruling stemmed from an identity theft investigation in Burlington. Prosecutors wanted to seize all electronic devices in the home, even though their suspect lived with other people.
