Dartmouth faces federal complaints over rape allegations

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

Four colleges, including Dartmouth, face federal complaints over their handling of rape allegations.

Other colleges facing complaints include Swarthmore College, University of Southern California and University of California at Berkeley.

A women's rights attorney says some were Title IX complaints alleging a hostile environment for women, while others charged the colleges with violating the Clery Act, which requires accurate reporting of campus crimes.

The colleges said they had not seen the complaints yet and had no comment.

Recently, a Dartmouth rugby player was arrested for allegedly raping at least one student on campus.

Dartmouth College would not comment on those specific allegations, but said it takes allegations of sexual assault very seriously.
