Paving project slows traffic to a crawl

Posted: Updated:

Hundreds of Vermonters were late to work Tuesday.

That's because a big paving project along Interstate 89 in Chittenden County forced commuters to get stuck in traffic. Workers were paving the northbound lane near the Richmond Exit, which forced commuters to move slowly through the area. The paving project also created headaches for those getting onto the Interstate from Route 2.

VTrans officials say they are working with the contractor to limit work during high commute times, but to expect  delays until the big project wraps up.
