Saturday, Burke Mountain Academy Senior Mikaela Shiffrin, will graduate. This was a winter to remember for Shiffrin who became a household name in skiing world before her 18th birthday. Shiffrin posted her first World Cup starts as a 15-year-old and nearly scored her first points. Her first podium happened a year later in 2012. In only her second full season on the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup, Shiffrin nabbed World Champs slalom gold, four World Cup slalom wins and capped the winter with a legendary, come-from-behind victory in the final race of the season to clinch the slalom title. Shiffrin is the first U.S. slalom World Cup champion since Tamara McKinney in 1983-84.
After the season, but before heading back to Burke, Shiffrin made a stop in New York City, where she appeared on the Late SHow with David Letterman and the Today Show.
