Vermont entertainer Rusty Dewees is contemplating his next step.
For the past 17-years, Dewees has been The Logger. The character is pure Vermont -- with a quick wit and thick accent. He's put on countless holiday shows and just wrapped up a tour entertaining inmates at Vermont prisons. But Monday on The :30, Dewees told Kristin Carlson he's considering a new role.
Reporter Kristin Carlson: Would you ever thing of running for office in Vermont?
Rusty Dewees: Absolutely. That's -- you know -- I'm searching. If that's one of the things that can help. It's about helping Vermonters -- as many as you can, as quickly as you can -- you know -- more specific ways than I am able to as The Logger, so that's definitely on the table. But it's not a thing that's the next step necessarily, but yes I would consider that for sure.
Dewees says he would consider running as an Independent. Off camera, he says if he were to run, he might be interested in a U.S. Congressional seat.
