Green Mountain Railroad wants propane center

Posted: Updated:

BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. (AP) - Green Mountain Railroad wants to build a propane distribution center for bulk tank truck access in Vermont.

Bellows Falls Acting Municipal Manager Willis Stearns says the railroad plans to set up three 60,000-gallon tanks for trucks, which would be able to fill up on a 24-hour hour basis all week.

The Brattleboro Reformer reports Stearns told the village board of trustees the railroad bought property in a section formerly known as Steamtown earlier in the month.

He said the setup is dependent on a fire safety analysis from state officials and commitments from local fire officials that they can meet the demands of the facility.
