BURLINGTON, Vt. -

A landmark court ruling on equal pay involving a Vermont woman.

Wendie Dreves sued Hudson News alleging the franchise at the Burlington Airport replaced her with a younger, less experienced man and paid him more money to do the same job.

Dreves' case was the first to put Vermont's equal pay act to the test, and this week federal Judge William Sessions found his Dreves' favor.

Sessions rejected claims by Hudson News that the new hire was able to negotiate a higher salary and that it was justified in part as inducement to get him to move to the area to take the job.
