A Burlington teacher has been fired a month after she denied having sex with her 17-year-old student.
Giovanna Yaranga, 44, pleaded not guilty to sexual exploitation of a minor back in May.
Thursday, Burlington Schools Superintendent Jeanne Collins said the school board terminated the high school Spanish teacher based on her recommendation.
Yaranga has not been convicted, but the district says it has enough information on the case to support "just cause" for the firing.
