POULTNEY, Vt. -

Poultney residents are being asked to stay out of Lake St. Catherine while crews work to combat an invader.

Milfoil is an invasive plant that has been spotted in other parts of the state, including Lake Champlain and Lake Bomoseen.

As part of an effort to control the plant, officials are applying a chemical today to the lakeshore. And they're advising people not to use the lake, Lily Pond, Little Lake, and the outlet stream to North Road until Wednesday.
