BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Burlington police are investigating a hit-and-run.

Police say Monday at 4:10 p.m., a woman was walking in the crosswalk at College St. near the Waterman Building at UVM, when she was hit by an older model white or gray sedan with Vermont plates.

The woman was thrown to the ground but was not seriously hurt.

Police say the car stopped for a few seconds, and then left.

A bus camera captured pictures of the suspect's vehicle at the scene. The driver is described as a white woman in her late 40s or early 50s. She had a thin build and shoulder length brown/gray hair.

"We're in hopes, of course, that we'll get some participation from the community in identifying this person, or the person themselves comes forward and identifies themselves," Burlington Deputy Police Chief Andi Higbee said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Burlington Police at 802-540-2312 or Crime Stoppers at 802-864-6666.
