Closing time at some upstate New York bars is coming an hour earlier.
In New York bars stay open until 4 a.m., but the State Liquor Authority has approved a new rule that has bars in Essex County close at 3 a.m.
Some people in the region like the idea. They say they're concerned about excessive early-morning drinking. A 2 a.m. closing time was proposed, but business owners in Lake Placid who didn't like the earlier closing time see 3 a.m. as a compromise.
