RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont man charged with causing a collision that killed a Las Vegas man and his son is scheduled to plead guilty to a lesser charge next week.
Joshua Ouimette, 26, of Rutland, pleaded not guilty last year to two counts of careless and negligent operation with death resulting.
The Rutland Herald reports he's scheduled to change that plea in court Thursday to guilty to a misdemeanor charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle. That carries up to a year in jail.
Police said Ouimette's vehicle crossed the center line on U.S. Route 4 in Bridgewater on Jan. 15 and crashed into an oncoming sport utility vehicle. Killed were 56-year-old Christopher Raleigh and his 10-year-old son, Travis. Two other family members in the vehicle survived.
