Miniature donkeys on the auction block

Posted: Updated:

They have been breeding and selling miniature donkeys for 25 years, and now the folks at Ass-Pirin Acres in West Addison have decided to get out of the business.

So, they're holding an auction Saturday. They hope to sell 73 donkeys.

People visited the barn Friday from all across the country to check out the animals. They can sell for hundreds even thousands of dollars each.

So, why own a miniature donkey?

"They're just very, very addicting," said Marshlyn Reed of Ass-Pirin Acres. "They're an animal that makes you feel better. They just take your stress away. That's just the way they are. Sort of lake a Labrador dog, except they don't drool."

The auction starts Saturday at 11 a.m.
