Rutland County colleges, GMP team up for lectures

Posted: Updated:

In an effort to bring college students into Rutland City, Green Mountain Power will be offering lectures downtown.

GMP has partnered with all four Rutland County colleges to offer a variety of college level courses downtown. The lectures will be held in the GMP Innovation Center on Merchants Row that is currently under construction. The collaboration will also include a job shadowing component that will allow students from the four schools to get experience at the power company.

"I think through job shadowing and through lectures, students will be able to really see what those various jobs are, but also make a personal connection with someone that is actually doing the work, as opposed to an academic who talks about the work," said Michael Keogh of the Community College of Vermont.

CCV staff members say they hope the lectures will be up and running by the fall. They will be open to the public.
