Four members of the 2013 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks have connections to the University of Vermont. Patrick Sharp is the first former Catamount to win two Stanley Cups while Viktor Stalberg is the sixth different former Catamount player to hoist the cup as an NHL player. Former Cat goalie Andrew Allen is the Developmental Goaltending Coach and Strength for Chicago. Conditioning Coach Paul Goodman spent six years on Vermont's staff from 2002-2008.
Monday night right after their victory, both Stalberg and Sharp talked to CatamounTV while UVM Men's Hockey Head Coach Kevin Sneddon addressed the media this afternoon. Sneddon coached Stalberg at Vermont. Sneddon said he sent congratulations to both players immediately following the Game 6 win last night in Boston and was surprised to get responses from both within hours. On Tuesday, Sneddon spoke about the pride felt for the program when players like Sharp, Tim Thomas and Martin St. Louis win the Stanley Cup and bring it to Vermont. In 2010, Goodman brought the Cup to Burlington after the Blackhawks beat Philadelphia.
