Inspectors examine Brattleboro Retreat

Posted: Updated:
BRATTLEBORO, Vt. -

Inspectors were back at the Brattleboro Retreat this week following up on complaints from patients.

But the state's interim mental health commissioner says he's been informed by the Retreat's CEO that the preliminary report shows there were no violations.

This is not related to a failed inspection by federal regulators back in April.

The psychiatric hospital is on notice that it could lose federal funding.

The Brattleboro Retreat is working to fix those deficiencies, most of which were in the hospital's new 14-bed unit.

It houses patients under state care, displaced by the closing of the Vermont State Hospital in Waterbury.
