A Plainfield man is dead following an apparent drowning.
It happened around 3:30 p.m. Saturday at a pond off of Coburn Road in East Montpelier. Police say Alexander Jeldres, 37, was swimming with a family member and that he tried to make it across the pond and was not seen again.
A State Police Scuba Team searched the waters until dark on Saturday evening. After resuming the search Sunday, his body was found shortly after 10. a.m. Police say there is no evidence of foul play and it is not clear if he suffered from a medical condition.
An autopsy is scheduled to determine cause of death.
