Changes at Sand Bar State Park after outbreak

Posted: Updated:

Changes are being made at the Sand Bar State Park in Milton because of last year's suspected norovirus outbreak there.

The park was shut down for three days last July after 35 visitors got sick.

Though the Department of Health was not able to confirm it, officials suspect the highly-contagious norovirus was the culprit.

The Lake Champlain Committee says in response, they have re-modeled restrooms and are considering changing their "carry in, carry out" trash policy to make it easier for parents to keep kids with dirty diapers out of the water.
