He had one of the best years an NHL goalie could ever have. Then, he took a year off. Now, it looks like Former Catamount Goalie Tim Thomas wants back in. On Monday afternoon, Thomas' agent, Bill Zito, tweeted out the following:
"Tim Thomas has asked me to explore possible options for next season. We'll have no further comment at this time. Thanks."
Thomas took this past season off to, as he stated on Facebook, "Focus on friends, family and faith." He was still under contract to the Bruins at the time of his decision to step away. In February, Boston traded Thomas to the Islanders. His contract was up at the end of the season and can sign with anyone as a free agent on or after July 5th. The Philadelphia Flyers are one team that has reportedly expressed interest in the former Conn Smythe and Vezina winner.
