Teens accused of attacking Burlington police officer

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Two Burlington teens armed with BB guns are facing criminal charges after allegedly attacking a police officer.

Monday night, police got a call that several kids were firing off BB guns on Spring Street. Police say when a neighbor asked them to stop, they shot at her, barely missing her head.

Police then say 16-year-old Hassan Williams and his 15-year-old brother attacked the responding officer, Sgt. Brad Trombley, ripping his uniform, stealing his radio and threatening to kill him.

One of the teens even bit Trombley's arm. He managed to spray his attackers with pepper spray, but it had little effect on them.

Police say the teens calmed down only after Trombley drew his weapon. Williams and his brother were taken into custody as well as another woman who tried to intervene in their arrests.
