HUNTINGTON, Vt. -

Another night, another round of flash flooding. Heavy rain caused rivers to jump their banks Wednesday, closing several roads in the Huntington and Hinesburg areas.

Vermont Emergency Management says many roads are impassable. And Colchester Technical Rescue is on standby to assist with any possible evacuations.

Parts of Sherman Hollow Road, Main Road and Mayo Road, and Texas Hill Road were washed out. Emergency management and Homeland Security are activating the state Emergency Operations Center in Waterbury to respond to hard hit areas.

Residents are advised to stay clear of rising rivers and streams. Vermont State Police are out making sure drivers stay clear of flooded roads.

"We don't recommend that you drive over water that's clearly over the roads, especially on dirt roads because they can give way at any time," Vt. State Police Lt. Brian Miller said.

State Police are out trying to make sure drivers don't cross water-covered roads. They advise everyone to stay alert.
