BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The American Red Cross chapter covering Vermont and the Upper Valley of New Hampshire is offering safety tips for the Fourth of July holiday.
For fireworks safety, the Red Cross says anyone lighting them should wear eye protection, and never point them at people, animals, vehicles, structures or other flammable objects.
When grilling out, the Red Cross urges keeping it away from anything flammable, including decks. And never use lighter fluid when coals have already been ignited.
And when swimming, always swim sober and with a buddy, never dive head-first, and watch children.
