BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - An 18-year-old Vermont boy who was shot with a stun gun while trying to flee from police two years ago has been sentenced to up to two years in prison.
When he was 16, police said Branden Brooks of Pownal ran away from a Department of Children and Families facility. Police caught up with him at a mobile home park and tipped over a gun cabinet, injuring a state trooper. He was eventually arrested.
The Bennington Banner reports Brooks recently was moved from a youthful offender program to criminal court, where he was sentenced. He had pleaded guilty to aggravated assault on a police officer, simple assault on an officer, and disorderly conduct.
