LINCOLN, N.H. (AP) - A North Carolina man is being treated for a head injury he suffered while hiking along the Garfield Ridge Trail near Mount Lafayette.
The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department says 54-year-old James Page of Yadkinville, N.C., tripped and fell Wednesday morning, hitting his head on a rock. An Appalachian Mountain Club employee he met called for help and took Page to one of the club's huts, where he could rest and receive first aid.
Conservation officers and volunteers hiked three miles to the hut for a possible emergency evacuation, but Page was able to walk to a parking area where he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
