We're here at the annual Plattsburgh Fourth of July Parade. It's the first time WCAX News is participating, but before I get started, I took some advice from veteran marchers.
They advised keeping a slow, steady pace and watching for kids on both sides.
"Plattsburgh is known for their patriotism, certainly with the War of 1812 and the significance behind it. You can see with some of the floats we have here," said Kelly Donoghue, the parade marshal.
But just before I could put my parade skills to the test, a slight drawback-- a quick downpour. But that didn't rain on this parade, let alone our first time.
Plenty of people lined the streets of Plattsburgh and many eager faces lit up to see what was coming their way.
A great day for the public to celebrate the country's birthday.
We made it to the end of the parade and despite the rain, thunder and lightning, a good time still had by all.
