More F-35 noise meetings Monday night

Posted: Updated:
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Two more meetings will be held Monday night in cities most likely to be affected if the F-35 is based in Vermont.

The hearings are to discuss potential noise problems if the Vermont Air National Guard gets the fighter jets.

South Burlington's City Council voted last year to oppose the planes, but after a shakeup this spring, now it's now reconsidering its position.

The other city, Winooski, has so far remained neutral on the F-35s.

The Air Force has set a mid-July deadline for comment on the proposal.

The Winooski City Council is holding a public forum Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the Claire Burke Chamber at City Hall.

South Burlington's City Council will meet Monday at Chamberlain Elementary School at 6 p.m.
