Discussing sex in pop culture with children

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Pop culture has often pushed the boundaries of what is acceptable. But several summer music videos have prompted new debates about what is appropriate and what crosses the line.

That includes "Blurred lines" by Robin Thicke. The song is about those blurred lines where fun can turn confusing or dangerous. WCAX has edited out the worst sections of the video.

Critics say the video objectifies women. One scene in particular has a woman is in bed and a stop sign is shown. After that symbolic no a male singer says I hate those blurred lines and then I know you want it.

Dr. Bjarne Holmes is the head of the Chaplain College Psychology department. He offers advice on how parents can talk to their children about these images.
