This week the Fayston Rangers Meet the Monsters. These 7 and 8 year olds are all from the same town and same class, which really helped with team chemistry. They had a solid season, getting better each day.
Jack, a 7 year old pitcher asks, "What was your favorite position growing up?"
Tyler Johnson, Lake Monsters Pitcher, "Hey Jack. When I was growing up I always liked playing shortstop. I loved running around and hitting. Center field too, because you can run around and grab the ball. I always liked being on the mound pitching. I didn't throw too much when I was younger so I could keep my arm fresh, but definitely liked shortstop or center field, because those were the most active positions on the field."
Grady, an 8 year old catcher asks, "How did you become a Lake Monsters?"
Dylan Covey, Lake Monsters Pitcher, "Hey Grady! I was drafted by the Oakland Athletics and then I went to Arizona for a few days before they sent me out to Vermont to play for the Vermont Lake Monsters."
Lauren, an 8 year old first baseman asks, "What is the most important position on the field?"
Rick Magnante, Lake Monsters Manager, "Well Lauren, that's a very good question. We certainly look to pitching first and then we look to the people who play at the center of the diamond, because that's where the action most of the time takes place. That would be your catcher, shortstop and your center fielder so those are the areas we look to when we define where the key players are and where the best players are."
