Vermonters selected for elite aerial program

Tuesday, July 9th

Three Vermont teenagers invited to the U-S Ski Team's Elite Air Tryout Camp last month in Lake Placid have been invited to join the Team's Elite Aerial Development Program.

They are 17-year-old Megan Nick of Shelburne, 16-year-old Kira Tanghe of Essex Junction and 15-year-old Tyra Izor of Duxbury. All three are gymnasts who train at Green Mountain Gymnastics in Williston.

They were part of a group of seventeen girls invited to the camp. Only four were selected for the program.

Knowing how to ski was not a requirement either for being invited to the camp or being selected for the program. Because none of the three Vermont girls ski, they will be traveling to Mount Hood in Oregon in the near future to receive instruction.
