DANVILLE, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont school board says it has confidence in the ability of the Danville School principal who is charged criminally with failing to report a case of suspected abuse.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the board said it would support Principal Noah Noyes as the legal process unfolds.

On Tuesday the board voted 4-0 to support Noyes.

Noyes and Caledonia Central Supervisory Union Superintendent Martha Tucker were both cited by police Monday.

Police say Noyes and Tucker failed to report allegations that a Danville teacher inappropriately touched a student April 29.

Tucker's lawyer says the abuse allegations were found to be baseless. Noah has not responded publicly to the allegations.

The board said Tucker is scheduled to begin a scheduled parental leave this week.
