WCAX-TV Channel 3 announced today it will begin offering more news on weekends, setting a precedent for the Vermont, northern New York and New Hampshire TV market.
"Our viewers are asking for early morning news on the weekends. And now we will deliver," WCAX-TV President Peter Martin said.
Currently, WCAX only offers morning news Monday through Friday. Beginning Sept. 7, the CBS affiliate will offer news, weather and sports Saturday and Sunday mornings.
"We appreciate that our viewers have busy schedules and they seek news and weather seven days a week," Martin noted. "Launching this new programming will keep the public better informed of breaking news, sports scores or that all-important weekend weather forecast through original content and relevant hometown reporting."
The early weekend news will air from 8-9 a.m.
WCAX-TV is the CBS affiliate in Burlington, Vt., and is owned and operated by Mt. Mansfield Television, Inc.
